A humanoid robot cleaned my apartment

A humanoid robot (a robot built to resemble a human) is cleaning a home in San Francisco.

Robots sent by the startup Tau Robotics visit residents' apartments, wiping down counters and folding laundry—and the cleaning service, surprisingly, comes at a modest price.

The service was covered in an MIT Technology Review article (November 6, 2026, by Grace Hawkins). The reporter, without revealing her identity as a journalist, signed up for the waitlist, experienced the robot cleaning firsthand, and reported on it.
