Rep. Park Soo-min Welcomes Mayor Oh Se-hoon's Candidacy, Urges Party Reform

Rep. Park Soo-min of the People Power Party stated on the 17th that he welcomes Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon's candidacy registration. Meeting with reporters that day, Park said, "Now that Mayor Oh has registered his candidacy, we can enter a proper primary contest." This remark suggests that Mayor Oh's registration marks the beginning of the full internal party primary process.

After announcing his intention to run for Seoul Mayor this morning, Park urged Mayor Oh to accept additional nominations, emphasizing, "The start of our party's change is the nomination process." He added that the party must eliminate its lethargic image and nomination controversies and connect with the public. Regarding his reasons for running, he said, "I decided to run for the party's change and expansion," and stated he has been assessed as having the capabilities for Seoul Mayor due to his experience as a businessman and bureaucrat.

Rep. Park Soo-min is a first-term lawmaker representing Gangnam B in Seoul, and has previously served as the spokesperson for the People Power Party in the National Assembly and chief secretary to floor leader Song Eon-seok. Park is scheduled to officially announce his bid for Seoul Mayor at the National Assembly Communication Center on the 18th.
