Kim Yong-man, Chairman of Kim Gane, Admits Charges, Faces 3-Year Prison Request

Kim Yong-man, chairman of Kim Gane, admitted to all charges of attempted sexual assault against a female subordinate during his first trial. The prosecution requested a three-year prison sentence. Kim is accused of taking a drunken female employee, who was in a state of inability to resist, to a motel on September 23, 2023, during a company dinner, and attempting to sexually assault her. He stated through his lawyer in court that he admitted to all the charges.

The prosecution requested a three-year prison sentence for Chairman Kim, along with mandatory completion of a sex offender treatment program, public disclosure of his personal information, and a five-year restriction on employment in related fields.

In his final statement, Chairman Kim expressed deep remorse for his actions and pleaded for leniency, citing potential harm to the livelihoods of franchisees and employees.

The sentencing hearing for the case is scheduled for 10 AM on the 21st of next month.
