US Arrests Somali Immigrant Linked to Piracy Amid Border Policy Criticism
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has raised criticism of the Biden administration's border policies following the arrest of Said Jama Ahmed, a Somali immigrant previously wanted on charges of piracy and passport fraud, at the U.S.-Canada border.
The DHS claims that the immigration policies of the Biden administration are the reason the individual was able to remain in the U.S. despite multiple encounters with law enforcement.
Said Jama Ahmed entered the U.S. via the U.S.-Canada border in September 2022, and his fingerprints were confirmed to match records collected during an investigation into suspected involvement in a piracy incident in the Gulf of Aden in 2012.
