Kim Yong-nam Formalizes Pyeongtaek Candidacy, Considers 'Lee Jae-myung's Choice' Slogan

Former lawmaker Kim Yong-nam announced yesterday (the 16th) his registration as a preliminary candidate in Pyeongtaek, stating he felt like he had been deployed to the front lines after working in an administrative role. He likened his situation to 'taking off a suit and putting on combat gear,' describing the feeling of being dispatched to the field again after administrative duty. The campaign is currently discussing 'Kim Yong-nam, Lee Jae-myung's Choice' as a provisional slogan, while others have proposed 'By-election's Kim Yong-nam,' 'Kingmaker Killer,' and 'The President's Man' as potential hot slogans.

Kim, the former lawmaker, relayed that residents of the Pyeongtaek area are expressing support with the sentiment of 'you must be elected for the success of the Lee Jae-myung administration.' Democratic Party leader Jung Chung-rae also visited Pyeongtaek Port to mark Labor Day and reportedly met with Kim in the early morning.

Kim stated he would not respond unless his opponent attacks first. He emphasized that it is more important for each candidate to work hard and increase their approval ratings than to engage in electoral engineering calculations. Poll results expected after Lee Jae-myung's confirmation as the Democratic Party candidate are anticipated to be significant.
