Oh Se-hoon Slams Rival Jung Won-oh's 'Petty Election Tactics'
Seoul mayoral candidate Oh Se-hoon of the People Power Party hit back at Democratic Party candidate Jung Won-oh's accusation that he was responsible for the rebar omission incident on the GTX-A Line's Samsung Station, calling it a "narrow-minded and petty election strategy." Oh argued that this offensive amounted to negative campaigning.
Regarding the assault case ruling of Jung Won-oh, which was disclosed by the Reform Party, Oh dismissed it as a "typical drunkard incident." He questioned Jung's claims of being so intoxicated as to lose normal judgment, raising doubts about his recollection of the 5·18 Gwangju Uprising during the altercation and demanding a clear explanation from Jung as a public figure.
Additionally, in response to Jung Won-oh blaming Oh Se-hoon's unfulfilled promises for the recent Seoul rental market crisis, Oh dismissed it as the "rental crisis caused by the June 27th and October 15th measures." He further criticized Jung, stating that he should straighten his posture and write a letter of self-reflection whenever he speaks about rental issues.
Oh Se-hoon's strong counter-offensive is interpreted as a strategy to defend himself against the rival candidate's attacks, cast doubt on the credibility of the opponent's past actions and statements, and seize the initiative in the election. This indicates a potential escalation of the election battle from policy debates to disputes over personal qualifications and past records between the two candidates.
