Park Min-sik Tells Han Dong-hoon: 'Not a Consolidation Candidate'
On May 21, the first official day of campaigning for the June 3 by-elections, Park Min-sik, a People Power Party candidate running in Busan's Buk District, drew a line, stating that independent candidate Han Dong-hoon could not be a partner for consolidation. Regarding conservative consolidation, Park stated, "I don't think candidate Han is a viable partner for consolidation," adding, "He is someone who has inflicted irreparable damage on the conservative camp and should beg for forgiveness." He further commented, "Consolidation based on election engineering is a betrayal of the residents of Buk District.”
Han Dong-hoon, meeting with reporters, argued that "conservatives cannot win power with politics that defends martial law and takes an ambiguous stance on impeachment." He declared his "resolve and will to make the now-heated Buk District the center of Busan and the center of South Korea.”
Candidate Ha Jeong-woo said at a rally, "What politics, ideology, or faction is there under the name of Buk District? If you want to fight, go to Seoul." He appealed for support, saying, "I will bury my bones in Buk District and work until my body breaks. If you trust and entrust it to me, I will get it done properly.”
