Kim Jong Un Oversees Weapons Tests for Deadly Strike Against South

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un observed important weapons tests organized by defense science research institutions on June 25, the anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War. During the observation of new weapons designed to strike key South Korean facilities, he ordered an enhancement of the nation's "deadly attack posture."

North Korea inspected the progress of its military modernization plans through the testing of significant weapons conducted by defense science research institutions on the 25th. The tests included an upgraded 240mm 24-tube multiple rocket launcher, tactical ballistic missile warheads for special missions, and extended-range projectiles for 155mm self-propelled howitzers. The upgraded 240mm 24-tube multiple rocket launcher weapon system, an improved corps-level firepower system incorporating automation and autonomous precision guidance, saw its range increased to 90km. The special mission warheads for tactical ballistic missiles are intended for the fatal destruction of crucial targets such as enemy airfields, ports, and power facilities, while the extended-range projectiles for 155mm self-propelled howitzers were tested for a range of 65km.

Kim Jong Un expressed satisfaction with the test results, evaluating that the trials demonstrated technological advancements in realizing the three core principles of modernization: automation, long-range capability, and ultra-precision. He emphasized that strengthening defense capabilities is an indispensable, top national strategic priority, and stated that the policy will adhere to not merely enhancing defensive means but to achieving a "deadly and destructive attack posture" that leaves no adversary capable of confronting them.

Meanwhile, military authorities stated that while North Korea had announced its ballistic missile launches, it had not provided prior notice for the multiple rocket launcher firings. The Joint Chiefs of Staff reported that they detected approximately ten rounds, including multiple rocket launcher shells, and are currently conducting a detailed analysis of the specific parameters.
