Daejeon Jung-gu is launching a 'Sick Child Hospital Companion Service' for children aged 4 to 12 to address childcare gaps for dual-income households. The service provides dedicated personnel who handle everything from picking up the child by vehicle to assisting with medical consultations and handing over medication instructions. It will help parents who are unable to take their children to the hospital due to work.

Jung-gu has announced a proposed ordinance, the 'Daejeon Metropolitan City Jung-gu Ordinance on Support for the Sick Child Hospital Companion Service.' This ordinance, based on the Child Welfare Act and the Framework Act on Low Birth and Aging Society, aims to guarantee children's right to health and support parents in balancing work and family life. Jung-gu plans to establish a public childcare system, with direct involvement from local government, to resolve childcare gaps for dual-income families and others.

Following the enactment of this ordinance, Jung-gu plans to secure the necessary budget and officially launch the service in the first half of 2027.
