Trump Declares at UN General Assembly That US Will Use 'Super Intelligence' Instead of AI

US President Donald Trump, in his address to the UN General Assembly on Tuesday (local time), rejected attempts to control artificial intelligence (AI) and announced that the US will use the term 'Super Intelligence (SI)' going forward instead of AI.

Speaking at the high-level session of the UN General Assembly at the UN headquarters in New York, Trump said, "The US completely rejects any attempt to devise international schemes for controlling AI." The remarks reaffirmed, before the international community, his opposition to calls for an AI slowdown recently raised by industry and civil society. In his address, he stressed, "We will not suppress the growth of something bigger than the Industrial Revolution," signaling his opposition to curbing technological growth through regulation.

"From now on, all official US documents will use 'super,' a far more accurate term, instead of 'artificial,' and I hope the rest of the world will do the same," Trump said, calling for the adoption of the term 'Super Intelligence' (Super Intelligence·SI).
