Political Parties Flock to South Jeolla and Gwangju Ahead of Chuseok

Ahead of the Chuseok holiday, ruling and opposition parties in the South Jeolla–Gwangju region visited holiday travelers and livelihood sites to exchange holiday greetings and listen to public sentiment. With the launch of the South Jeolla–Gwangju metropolitan city, major parties in Gwangju and South Jeolla are speeding up efforts to build unified organizations and restructure. Ahn Do-geol of the Democratic Party, Kim Hwa-jin of the People Power Party, Seo Wang-jin of the Rebuilding Korea Party, and Kim Ju-up of the Progressive Party were elected as chairs of the unified city-level party chapters, completing the command structure of the unified city parties.

On the 23rd, members of the Democratic Party's South Jeolla–Gwangju Unified Special City chapter, including Chair Ahn Do-geol, regional chapter heads, and local councilors, greeted holiday travelers at Suncheon Station and Gwangju Songjeong Station, offering holiday greetings and promoting key policies.

The same day, the People Power Party's South Jeolla–Gwangju Unified Special City chapter, with Chair Kim Hwa-jin, regional chapter heads, and party officials, greeted holiday travelers at Gwangju Songjeong Station and promoted key policies on the livelihood economy, support for youth, and easing housing and tax burdens.

The Progressive Party launched its holiday outreach on the previous day (the 22nd), focusing on labor and livelihood sites. Chair Kim Ju-up and party members visited street-cleaning workers in Gwangju's Buk District early on the 22nd to offer holiday greetings, while Rep. Jeon Jong-deok visited the Owool Mothers' Home. Progressive Party local councilors and regional chapter heads toured facility management corporations, living environment centers, and traditional markets, meeting residents and conducting a signature campaign calling for the full implementation of a rural basic income.

On the 23rd, Democratic unified city chapter Chair Ahn Do-geol also visited Muan International Airport to console families of the victims of the Jeju Air passenger plane crash, vowing to keep pressing for a full investigation and support for the bereaved families.
