September 24 Employment Market Report: Rolex Recruits in Seoul

Staffing for Rolex's first standalone flagship store in South Korea has appeared in the Seoul hiring market all at once.

Compiling public recruitment data from 46 companies and 80 postings, the most striking trend is luxury retail hiring. Humanist Co. alone posted 18 openings, accounting for more than a fifth of all listings. Along with Rolex flagship store hiring for assistant managers, sales associates, and office assistants, there was a string of postings from Louis Vuitton Korea for sales staff in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and nationwide, as well as assistant manager and associate openings at Chaumet and Fred, the LVMH Group jewelry brands. This shows that the expansion of sales operations in Korea's luxury market is translating directly into hiring demand.

Expansion of the Mid-Career Brokerage Market

The backbone of this dataset is not corporations but recruitment agencies and headhunting firms. Multiple staffing intermediaries — Renew People, Raon Search, HR Global Network, ManpowerSearch, Good Career, and Maverick Consulting — posted openings. Most of the positions they broker are experienced roles at the manager, senior manager, and department head level.

A closer look reveals a wide industry spectrum. Renew People handled postings for an English-speaking global game GM and a team leader for overseas sales of automotive-defense PCBs. Raon Search sought an SHE (safety, health, and environment) specialist at a fine chemicals manufacturer and an experienced cosmetics ingredients salesperson. Good Career sought a PM for data center development projects and switchgear electrical design engineers, while ManpowerSearch looked for a CMO and e-commerce leader for a clean, vegan beauty brand. HR4U brokered a compliance team leader role at a foreign insurance company, and Maverick Consulting respectively handled a CISO-level information security chief and sales department head/director roles in auto parts.

Three Signals in the Patterns

First, global competency has become a hiring requirement

In several postings — the English-speaking game GM, the overseas sales team leader, the foreign insurer's compliance team leader — language skills and international experience are explicitly stated job requirements. Even in dermatology recruiting, English ability was required of skin care specialists. Including service industries in the capital region, the trend suggests global communication skills are spreading as a baseline requirement.

Second, demand in technology and security roles

Aerospace company V-Aerospace Co., ahead of its 2026 business expansion, simultaneously sought R&D staff in Incheon and Daejeon and an Executive Assistant at headquarters. Human Consulting Group repeatedly sought developers for a year-end tax settlement module in a payroll system, and JSE Co. hired an automation control programmer. Add postings for information security managers, and the development, security, and R&D job categories form a consistently thick layer in this data.

Third, regional spread and small-scale hiring

Beyond Seoul's Gangnam, Songpa, and Yongsan districts, postings were also observed in regional metropolitan areas such as Jeju, Busan, Cheongju, Changwon, and Daejeon. A director-level finance and accounting hire at a Jeju real estate firm, a recruitment for early childhood music instructors in Cheongju, and freelance trainer hiring in Changwon show that demand for mid-career and specialist roles persists outside major cities.

Implications and Outlook

Viewing the overall landscape, the labor market's dual structure is clear. Consumer service sectors like luxury and beauty are pulling in frontline staff amid store expansion, while manufacturing and technology sectors are simultaneously attracting experienced professionals. Notably, given that manager-level-and-above roles brokered by headhunting firms make up the majority, companies are clearly prioritizing the acquisition of seasoned professionals who can contribute immediately over developing new entrants.

Believing that good results will come soon is not enough to secure good employees — good hiring is always the product of meticulous preparation.

If the trend toward direct operation in luxury retail, symbolized by the Rolex standalone store opening, continues, hiring in sales and service roles is expected to maintain momentum for some time. Meanwhile, roles tied to regulation and institutions — such as year-end tax settlement module development or compliance — are likely to see recurring seasonal and policy-driven demand. Going forward, experienced candidates with global competency and technical expertise are expected to hold the advantage in the hiring market.
