Democratic Party Warns People Power Party of Legal Liability Over False Allegations Against Nominee Lee Yong-chul
The Democratic Party of Korea on Friday characterized allegations raised by the People Power Party regarding Daejang-dong involving Justice Minister nominee Lee Yong-chul as false claims and warned of legal consequences. Spokeswoman Shin Hyun-young also argued in a Facebook post the same day that the executive appointments were made during the nominee's time at the Seongnam Facility Management Corporation, not the Seongnam Urban Development Corporation, and that at that point the Daejang-dong project itself had not even been conceived.
She stated, "All five members of the executive recommendation committee are known to have given Yoo Dong-gyu the top score."
She also rebutted the offensive over the so-called "Seongnam line" personnel appointments, emphasizing that the nominee was "a confidant of former President Moon Jae-in before the Seongnam line." The spokeswoman warned that the People Power Party could face legal liability if it damages the nominee's reputation with false claims.
