UK Leader: Public exhausted by energy bill burden
Keir Starmer, the UK Leader, stated on the 9th in an interview with a political podcast that he is tired of the situation where energy prices fluctuate due to the actions of Putin and Trump. Starmer warned that British households and businesses are struggling with the sharp rises and falls in energy bills influenced by international affairs, ultimately leading the public to bear the costs of war.
He also commented on the situation in the Middle East, stating that the actual openness of the Strait of Hormuz, a key maritime route, remains to be seen and that Iran's claims of reopening need verification.
Starmer urged a halt to Israel's airstrikes in Lebanon, calling them a wrong action that undermines the stability of a ceasefire.
Furthermore, regarding strong remarks made by US President Donald Trump towards Iran, Starmer drew a line, saying, "That's not the language I would use," and emphasized that the UK will act according to its own principles and values.
Starmer clarified that the UK will not be directly involved in the current conflict, and UK bases have not been used and will not be used for operations targeting civilians in the future.
