Trump Death Post Sparks Controversy; Candidate Bangstad Claims 'Silence Me and I'll Win'
Kirk Bangstad, a Democratic candidate for Wisconsin governor, has become embroiled in controversy over social media posts that appeared to allude to the death of former President Donald Trump.
Bangstad, who also owns Minocqua Brewing Company (MBC), posted on his company's Facebook page messages such as 'must improve shooting skills' and 'Trump orchestrated another assassination to get positive news.' Bangstad, who faced investigation by the FBI and Secret Service over these posts, has maintained that the messages were satirical.
Bangstad asserted that attempts to silence him would instead lead to victory in the primaries, adding that the controversy had helped his campaign fundraising efforts.
