Namyangju Pursues AI Tech Park as it Eyes 1 Million-Strong Special City Status

Namyangju is preparing for its leap to a future special city of one million residents by making the development of the Wangsuk Urban Advanced Industrial Complex, based on AI and digital industries, a core part of its future vision.

Mayor Joo has set the expansion of transportation networks, the creation of industrial complexes, and the establishment of a medical complex as the three main pillars. Alongside transportation innovations, including securing 10 railway lines, the GTX, and the undergrounding of the Seoul Metropolitan Area's First Ring Expressway, the city is pursuing urban transformation by creating advanced industry clusters focused on AI, IT, fabless semiconductors, and biohealth. Addressing the insufficient self-sufficiency function and transportation inconveniences relative to its rapidly growing population remain key challenges for Namyangju.
