Rep. Cho Kyung-tae: 'Park Deuk-hee's Martial Law Apology? A Joke... Does a Sedition Defender Deserve to be Parliament's No. 2?'
People Power Party Representative Cho Kyung-tae dismissed National Assembly Vice Speaker Park Deuk-hee’s apology regarding martial law as empty words. During the National Assembly Agriculture, Forestry, Livestock, Food, Maritime, and Fisheries Committee meeting and on Channel A’s radio show 'Political Signal' on the 21st, Rep. Cho criticized Park’s apology as something that would make "even a passing cow laugh." He clarified his stance that someone who advocated for sedition cannot occupy the Assembly's constitutional No. 2 position, stating Park is unqualified to serve as Vice Speaker.
Rep. Cho continued his criticism, questioning whether Rep. Ahn Cheol-soo’s recent remarks about Party Leader Han Dong-hoon were driven by emotion rather than reason.
In the same interview, Rep. Cho did not hold back his attacks on Party Leader Jang Dong-hyuk, either. He raised issues with Jang’s failure to honor his resignation pledge following the party's defeat in the last general election and his relationship with former President Yoon Suk-yeol, arguing that Jang lacks the qualifications to serve as party leader. Cho is citing the breach of the resignation pledge and remarks about distancing himself from the "ringleader of sedition" as grounds for requesting disciplinary action from the Ethics Committee.
Meanwhile, Rep. Cho is currently under review by the Ethics Committee after requesting the expulsion and party removal of Leader Jang Dong-hyuk. As his calls for intra-party reform collide with the party leadership’s disciplinary logic, attention is focused on potential shifts in the internal power dynamics.
