Phishing Email Exposes 4.11 Million Prescriptions

A single phishing email—a fraudulent message designed to trick recipients into revealing personal information—breached the security of an outsourcing partner, exposing 4.11 million patient prescriptions. The entry point of this incident was not the hospital's system, but a contractor's email.

The Malgeunsoft hacking incident has spread far and wide, with personal data confirmed leaked from at least 22 sites. Companies involved in the breach include Onapeople, NHN DuRe, and Elseven Security.

The incident has sounded a security alarm for the healthcare sector, highlighting the problem of supply chain vulnerabilities.
